Hi everyone. I'm running a poll over on Facebook to help me decide on the Book Club book for June. If you can, pop on over to our FB page and let us know what you think?
Hi guys - can you send a quick message if you've had any trouble with your posts in the club this month? I've heard that it's been a little bit buggy, and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it.
I for one really liked the ending. I thought it had just the right amount suspense, waiting to see if they'd reconcile, but at the same time I didn't think that it was wrapped up too 'neatly' What do you think?
Personally I was really perplexed as to why Mue was included, particularly in that he only appeared here and there, and often when you least expected it. But, he did do well to balance up the characters in the novel - he and Harry's ex wife seemed to be the 'bad-guys' and I guess every story needs a bad guy. Maybe it was as simple as that, or maybe there was more to it...
What do you think?
You could be right Tam. I certainly think that they had formed a partnership, a kind of de facto bond through their Sunday dinners etc. Probably without even realising it themselves...
I think one of the things that makes this book so different is that it's got lots of sex in it, but not very many sex scenes. Quite unusual, not like anything I've read before.
I found Mue's inclusion very difficult to deal with. At the same time, I do know that growing up in the country, strange encounters like this were a very unpleasant reality. Not frequent, but every little girl knew growing up which 'creeps' to stay away from. Hazel is still learning.
